On Saturday the 6th of January 2018, the good people of Obio/Akpor on the political platform of the great All Progressives Congress APC, gathered in one spirit to give thanks to the Almighty God for his mercies and grace throughout the year 2017, and to dedicate the fresh year to Him for divine favor and good tidings. The event had in attendance prominent party men including the party chairman, Chief David Ibiamu Ikanya, opinion leaders, members of the state executive, LGA leaders, wards officers, chapter executives and leaders, well wishers and the most respected party faithfuls; men and women from all towns and villages within the LGA.

Prominent among the guests who graced the occasion was the renowned industrialist, a blue chip captain of industry, a special breed politician and a humble philanthropist; High Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, the one popularly known as DLB the pride of Port Harcourt.

Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs who is constantly haunted by the nostalgia of the pleasing and sublime experiences of the true Garden City that now lives in the memories, and who has never concealed his passion for realizing once again a society that gives real opportunity for a fruitful pursuit of happiness and a life of comfort, bared his mind on salient issues that bother on our security, economy, education and social values.

He began by thanking the Obio/Akpor APC leader for his glaring efforts in keeping the party firm and strong in the LGA.

"Clearly, APC in Obio/Akpor is very effective. Hon. Chikordi Dike and his fellow leaders are doing very well. I stay in my village in Abonnema and I hear about all his great works. Thank you Chikordi Dike, and may God continue to illuminate your path and bless the people of Obio/Akpor.

We know that the task ahead is not easy. But when you say never again to all the killings, never again to zero education and never again to zero jobs; and when you realize that those persons who have held you hostage are less than one percent of the entire population, then you know that you have the strength and the capacity to cause change in our society. You will have to believe in yourself; it's not easy but you must hold still.

With the gift of my innocence, I know that ever so often, that which ought to be cannot be for free. You have to be firm with the believe that it is doable. We want jobs, so, we must crave and fight for the opportunity to render the best economic policies, create the enabling environment, make Rivers State work again by returning it to the status of Nigeria's Industrial hub. We want growth and civility; we want our children to learn the value of respect, we want to revive the Port Harcourt spirit of love, no more guns! The whole Nigeria knew Rivers State for its hospitality and its civility, unfortunately, we have allowed people who are not prepared for governance to get into Government House, and since May 29th, 2015, it has been one sad story after another. Another opportunity is coming and the work has started.

It is commendable that the people of Obio/Akpor have invited God to take charge through a Thanksgiving service today. Indeed, God has a firm hand in the affairs of men, so, when you invite Him, be rest assured He will answer. On the 1st of January, my people of Akukutoru also deemed it fit to honour God and thank him for His grace and mercy. We have also prayed the Almighty God to deliver and liberate Rivers State. Enough is enough!

We have said never again to the misery that has overwhelmed the life that we live today. We have said never again to those in government house who have impoverished us. Rivers people have resolved to part ways with those who are spreading misery; we have said never again to them. We need to be courageous; our party leaders at the various LGAs must not be deficient in the courage necessary to deliver their Local Government areas. If you are a leader, you must lead well. Rotimi Amaechi is a leader and he is leading well. So, there's no reason why the rest of our leaders from LGA to chapters will not lead well.

The mantra remains:
One state, Rivers state
One party, APC
One leader, Chibuike Amaechi and
One God, the creator of all things.
And because we have ordered our steps properly under one God, we shall have several victories.

I have come here today to honour the leadership of Obio/Akpor APC and to align my spirit with the people of Obio/Akpor for a joint pursuit of happiness through the realization of our desired victory.
Thank you and may God bless you all" he concluded.
